This bar is so important to us because its an ode to my mother. Her profession was an oncologist and she did cancer research at the Cancer ward at providence.  But that's just what she did, she was truly my best friend, through thick and thing and wrong or right.  But after a long 10 year battle with cancer…. She passed away.  Shit broke me,  I isolated myself and tried to “fix” myself all alone.  But I got lucky I was blessed with family and friends, co workers, and my clients who became family that were always there.  And I know this is a story that too many people can relate to.  And thats why in honor of my mom and everyone who has lost someone to cance we give back 5% of each bars proceeds to cancer research.  If i’ve learned anything its that pain can pull us apart, but in some weird way it can bring us together and we can create something beautiful from it. 

This bar is very special to me.  Its kinda like a representation of the things we’ve gone through and what things can and will be…  The 5% of this barz proceeds will go to mental health awareness, something that I’ve had to navigate through pretty much my entire life. But i promise, this isn't a woe is me, feel bad for me type of story.  No ma’am! Because of that darkness, and because of those trials and tribulations we were able to create this. And although it didn't start out this way, this bar has turned into a symbol. It symbolizes that in the darkest and roughest of times, we can find that light whether it be in the form of friends, family, work or volunteering and that eventually we can become the light, not only for ourselves but for others.   We know everyone has a journey that is uniquely theirs.  I guess this is just our way of letting you know that we’ve been there, and we got your back.

The 5% of the proceeds of this flavor will go to fighting childhood hunger.  But its more than that, this bar in particular was set up to help bridge an understanding and build a strong and healthy relationship between kids and food from a young age.  Knowledge and easy access to said information is the best way we can give our youth a fighting chance.  And that's why throughout our website and social media we post fun and easy recipes you can share with your family and communities.  This cause is so close to me because i've struggled with weight for my entire life, like seriously i can walk past a pizza and gain 3 pounds. With these recipes and demonstrations we are able to show that good food is right at your fingertips.  And that's why the 5% from each bar is important, although its true good food can be at the tip of your fingers. We need to make sure everyone has access to food….  Food should not be a luxury to a few when its a necessity to all.

Just like our other products, we will continue to give back.  And with this bar we hope that we can help level the playing field,  by giving 5% to children's education.  School has never been the most fun or easiest for me, with my head residing in the clouds and being a professional ping pong player with my thoughts and ideas.  Concentrating on certain subjects was never my strong suit, but others I could be locked in. It wasnt that I was dumb, I just learned and saw things differently.  That's why culinary school was so great for me, I was able to learn with my hands and get right in the thick of things. These experiences with different schools have taught me that not everyone's path to knowledge is the same, but everyone deserves a chance to learn.
